Crypto PAC Slips into Stealth Mode Ahead of Massachusetts Primary
A US political action committee (PAC) backed by the crypto industry has scaled back its ad spending in Massachusetts ahead of the state's primary election. Protect Progress PAC, an affiliate of Fairshake, spent around $189,000 on media to support Representative Jake Auchincloss's reelection bid in Massachusetts' 4th congressional district.
The funds were used to create 'AI-generated slop mailers' supporting Auchincloss, according to Democratic candidate Jason Poulos. Poulos called on Auchincloss to publicly renounce Protect Progress's efforts to influence the primary and general election.
Auchincloss has accepted $77,500 directly from 'crypto-industry sources' since 2020, with a notable vote in favor of the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act in July 2025. Fairshake reported having $122 million cash on hand ahead of the 2026 midterms.
