Crypto Payments Take Root in iGaming: Market-Specific Trends Emerge
The use of cryptocurrency in iGaming is growing, but not uniformly across all markets. According to an SBC webinar, the demand for cryptocurrency as a payment method depends on factors like market, target audience, and local regulations.
In developing markets, crypto payments are gaining traction due to their speed and lower costs compared to traditional banking methods. Peter Woodfine, Sales Head at Payhound, noted that 'crypto is more popular in areas where banking is not simple and straightforward.'
However, the growth of cryptocurrency in iGaming is also seen in developed markets like Europe, particularly among younger generations who prefer using stablecoins to avoid fiat conversion fees. Woodfine emphasized that this trend is 'where we are seeing the most interesting markets that you would not normally see crypto necessarily being a priority.'
