Crypto Predicted to Absorb AI in 5-10 Years: Hoskinson
Charles Hoskinson, founder of Cardano and Midnight, has made a bold prediction that cryptocurrencies will 'eat' AI within five to ten years. According to Scott Melker, also known as The World Of All Streets, Hoskinson stated that crypto will absorb the technology because it solves problems that AI can't solve.
Hoskinson identified payments, alignment, and data provenance as gaps in AI, which only blockchain can solve. He noted that pre-training 'kills' AI models, and their resource-intensive requirements will become unsustainable.
He compared this trend to the 1990s fiber boom, where most of its infrastructure became unusable until demand caught up a decade later. Hoskinson believes crypto will provide coordination and settlement layers for pooling GPUs, phones, and other devices in the AI grid.
