Crypto Ringleader Pleads Guilty to Stealing $245M

A 22-year-old Singaporean citizen and recent Miami resident, Malone Lam, has pleaded guilty to leading an international crypto theft enterprise that stole over $245 million. Lam coordinated participants in California, Connecticut, New York, Florida, and other countries using aliases such as 'Anne Hathaway,' '$$$,' and 'King Greavy.'

The operation targeted victims through deception and brazen home break-ins. Prosecutors described the scheme as a cybercrime empire that preyed on innocent people through social engineering attacks and physical burglary.

Lam's network allegedly converted stolen cryptocurrency into an extravagant lifestyle, including luxury goods, expensive entertainment, private jets, and exotic cars valued at up to $3.8 million. Marlon Ferro, another member of the network, received 78 months in prison for his role in stealing a hardware wallet containing about 100 BTC from a Texas residence.
