Crypto Scams Cost Americans Estimated $80.7 Billion in 2025: Report

Share

The Consumer Federation of America (CFA) estimates that crypto scams cost Americans an estimated $80.7 billion in 2025, according to a new report.

This figure is based on FBI figures that put the cost of crypto scams reported to the agency at $11.37 billion last year, up 22% from 2024.

The CFA's estimate applies a 7.1x multiplier for unreported fraud, which it describes as conservative.

Ari Redbord, global head of policy at TRM Labs, said the FBI's number is 'an important benchmark' that 'captures only part of the picture.'
