Crypto Scams Surge: Malicious Governance Proposal Targets Olas for $40k Worth of Ethereum
Crypto scams continue to surge in 2026, with four different types of threats emerging in just 12 hours. The most recent incidents involve a malicious governance proposal targeting Olas (formerly Autonolas), which put around $40,196 worth of Ethereum at risk.
The attacker used the ENS name 'autonolas-deployer.eth' to disguise the proposal as a routine treasury ownership migration, but in reality, it would transfer control from the legitimate Autonolas Timelock to an attacker-controlled contract. The community has three days to reject the proposal before it can be executed.
In another incident, an attack on Reddio (an Ethereum-compatible Layer 2 blockchain) led to an estimated loss of $9.25 worth of Ethereum due to a cross-vault accounting flaw that double-counted stETH as backing for both rsvETH and rsvstETH.
