Share

Crypto security losses reached $1.26 billion in the third quarter of 2026, according to blockchain security firm CertiK.

The figure marks a 53.9% jump from the second quarter's $819.4 million in losses and a 31% increase from Q2's 219 incidents to 247 this quarter.

September was the worst month of the year so far, with hackers stealing $768.5 million across 99 incidents.

The Bitget exchange hack accounted for $387.5 million, or about 31% of Q3 losses, after attackers exploited a flaw in a third-party security product to obtain internal credentials and forge withdrawal commands.
