Crypto security threats have reached an all-time high in 2026, with over $2.21 billion lost to 288 reported incidents.

The majority of these attacks targeted infrastructure and custody systems, rather than smart contracts, with around 76% of stolen funds coming from this category.

The median loss per incident was approximately $219,000, but a small number of major breaches drove the bulk of the damage.
