Crypto Sentiment Remains Strong as Dogecoin and XRP Eye Breakouts
Investor sentiment in the cryptocurrency market showed a slight cooling over the past day, as the CoinMarketCap Fear and Greed Index slipped to 69 from 70. Despite this minor retreat, the index remains firmly in the "greed" zone, indicating that market participants still favor risk-on positioning. The index, which compiles data from multiple sources, reflects overall market conditions ranging from extreme fear (0) to extreme greed (100).
The index’s calculation includes factors like price performance of the top 10 cryptocurrencies, volatility levels, derivatives activity, and stablecoin supply ratios. While the one-point decline suggests a minor shift in sentiment, it does not indicate a major change in market direction. Instead, it may reflect profit-taking or a brief pause after recent gains.
Beyond sentiment, technical analysts are focusing on two altcoins: Dogecoin (DOGE) and XRP. Analyst Ali Martinez highlighted that both cryptocurrencies are forming tight consolidation patterns, suggesting a potential breakout. Dogecoin is trading within a descending triangle, with $0.095 identified as a critical resistance level. A four-hour candle close above this price could trigger a move toward $0.106, while a failure to break out may keep DOGE range-bound.
Similarly, XRP is consolidating within a triangle formation, with $1.53 as the key resistance level. A four-hour close above this mark could push XRP toward $1.62. Notably, large XRP holders have not made significant moves in the past week, suggesting a wait-and-see approach. The combination of elevated sentiment and technical setups in these altcoins may attract increased trading activity in the coming sessions.
