Crypto Staking Platforms Compared: Kraken Leads the Pack
Crypto staking has become increasingly popular as a way to put idle cryptocurrency to work and earn a yield. However, the platforms that offer it vary greatly in their rates, supported assets, flexibility, fees, and security.
A recent comparison of seven leading crypto staking platforms found significant differences between them. Kraken stood out for its flexible staking options and broad range of supported assets, with rates up to around 21% on select tokens. Coinbase was praised for its ease and security, but comes with a rewards commission that reduces the net yield.
BloFin approached earning less as pure proof-of-stake staking and more as a flexible savings suite, allowing users to choose between fixed terms or flexible products that can be redeemed at any time. Binance offered the broadest earn stack of any exchange, with options ranging from simple flexible staking to more structured products.
OKX stood out for bridging centralized staking with on-chain DeFi through its integrated Web3 wallet, allowing users to access higher-yield DeFi strategies without leaving the ecosystem. Crypto.com regularly advertised some of the highest staking rates in the market, up to around 17.9% APR on select assets.
The platforms' fees and security were also examined, with Kraken's long clean security record being highlighted as a major advantage. The article warned that staking is not risk-free, with rewards that can change and locked assets unable to be sold during volatility.
