Crypto Stocks Surge Amid Bitcoin and Ethereum Rally
Crypto stocks surged on Friday as Bitcoin and Ethereum rallied sharply.
The cryptocurrency market's value increased despite recent rate hikes by the Federal Reserve and Bank of Japan, suggesting these moves were already priced in, according to Alice Liu, head of research at CoinMarketCap.
Liu noted that the more important question now is how higher funding costs affect positioning. The U.S. dollar strengthened against the yen following the Bank of Japan rate hike, though investors remained doubtful of further increases.
Crypto stocks jumped as a result, with Coinbase Global, known for its significant holdings in crypto assets, rising 11.2%. Strategy soared 12.9% and Riot Platforms climbed 10%, while other cryptocurrency mining companies like MARA Holdings, Hut 8, and Bit Digital also advanced.
