Crypto Super PAC Backs 32 House Candidates Ahead of Midterms
With just a month left until the midterm elections, a prominent cryptocurrency super PAC is stepping up its political influence by backing candidates in 32 House races. Fairshake, the group behind this effort, is supporting 13 Democrats and 19 Republicans, according to spokesperson Geoff Vetter.
The super PAC is investing $1 million each in six key candidates: Reps. Janelle Bynum (D-Ore.), Steven Horsford (D-Nev.), Derek Tran (D-Calif.), French Hill (R-Ark.), Bill Huizenga (R-Mich.), and Bryan Steil (R-Wis.). Notably, Hill chairs the House Financial Services Committee, while Steil leads the panel’s digital assets subcommittee. Both have been instrumental in pushing for crypto legislation. Huizenga and Horsford are also influential voices in the digital asset space.
Fairshake emphasizes its bipartisan approach, stating it supports “pro-crypto candidates who support American innovation in both parties.” Vetter highlighted the group’s track record, claiming it has won 53 of the 57 races it engaged in this cycle. The super PAC aims to build on what it calls the “largest pro-crypto caucus in American history.”
Among the Republicans receiving Fairshake’s support are Majority Whip Tom Emmer (Minn.), House Agriculture Committee Chair Glenn Thompson (Pa.), and House Ways and Means Committee Chair Jason Smith (Mo.). The group is also backing several other GOP representatives known for their work on digital assets. On the Democratic side, Fairshake is supporting key figures like Democratic Caucus Chair Pete Aguilar (Calif.) and other prominent lawmakers.
Fairshake’s support for Democrats is particularly noteworthy following a recent setback in the Senate, where a key crypto bill failed to advance. Despite this, Fairshake, which had $108 million in cash on hand as of late August, appears committed to maintaining bipartisan support in the midterms.
