Crypto-Targeted Home Invasion Ring Busted

Share

Two men from Texas have been arrested for their involvement in a string of attempted home invasions in California, where they allegedly targeted victims who possessed large amounts of cryptocurrency.

The suspects, Damian Vielma and Jeremiah Clybourn, both 20 years old, were posing as delivery drivers when they attempted to break into the homes of Bay Area residents. One of the incidents occurred on September 5th in South San Jose, where the two men were seen at a front door, one dressed as a delivery driver and the other brandishing a rifle.

Using automated license plate reader data, authorities were able to identify the suspects' vehicle, leading them to Vielma and Clybourn. The investigation revealed that the duo targeted victims with high amounts of cryptocurrency wealth, although it is unclear how they determined this information.

The men are being held in Dallas County Jail on suspicion of several crimes, including attempted robbery. They are awaiting extradition back to Santa Clara County, where investigations into the alleged home invasions are ongoing.
