Cryptocurrency Market Sees Historic Surge Amid Binance Shake-Up
Binance has delisted 19 low-liquidity USDC pairs from its spot and margin markets as part of an effort to streamline operations. The exchange simultaneously announced a $100 million equity stake in Circle, the company behind the stablecoin USDC.
As Binance made these changes, the cryptocurrency market reached a historic high of near $3 trillion in total market capitalization after a massive short squeeze. Bitcoin (BTC) surged to almost $87,400, forcing bears to close positions worth over $557 million, with shorts absorbing around 70% of the hit.
However, Shiba Inu's (SHIB) 'Bull Combo' technical setup stalled at its most interesting point after buyers ran into resistance at the blue 50-week moving average line. XRP, on the other hand, broke a five-week symmetrical triangle and rose 5.5% weekly to test the $1.55 to $1.56 resistance zone.
The next few days will be shaped by these three main storylines: Binance's cleanup of 'dead' USDC pairs, XRP's official breakout from its five-week triangle, and SHIB's stalled technical setup. The market is digesting a short-lived USDe squeeze on Binance and assessing it as a local liquidity shortage ahead of the exchange's wallet upgrade.
