Cryptocurrency Prices Stabilize Amid Steep Year-to-Date Declines
The largest cryptocurrencies by market share have had a relatively quiet week. Bitcoin was roughly flat this week, up only around 0.3%. In contrast, Ether's closing price was down 3% this week. XRP saw a more modest increase of around 0.5%
Looking at year-to-date performance, both Bitcoin and Ether have taken significant hits, with Bitcoin down approximately 27% and Ether roughly 37% below their respective record highs.
The Ethereum blockchain platform's native cryptocurrency, Ether, was the second largest asset in market share, despite being the newest of the three assets discussed. XRP, owned by Ripple, launched in 2012 and held a significant position in the market until newer tokens entered the scene.
