Cryptocurrency Prices Take a Hit: Bitcoin Down 1.5%, Ether Falls 1%

Cryptocurrency prices have taken a hit this week, with Bitcoin down 1.5% and Ether down 1%. XRP, owned by Ripple, fared even worse, dropping 6% in value.

Bitcoin, considered the first decentralized digital currency, has been on a rollercoaster ride since its inception in early 2009. Despite experiencing a broader rebound, BTC's closing price was down 1.5% this week and is now approximately 12% lower year-to-date. It still sits about 38% below its October 2025 record high.

Ether, the native cryptocurrency of the Ethereum blockchain platform, has also taken a hit. Its closing price dropped 1% this week, making it currently down around 19% year-to-date and roughly 62% below its record close from August 2025.
