Cryptocurrency Projects Hit With $11M in Combined Losses
Three cryptocurrency projects suffered significant losses due to separate attacks on September 24, 2026. The total loss exceeded $11 million.
The first project affected was Payy Network, which provides on-chain payroll and treasury management services. Its Ethereum bridge was compromised, allowing an attacker to drain approximately $1.8 million in funds. Payy Network confirmed that the stolen assets belonged to non-custodial deposits from users of Payy Network and Payy Wallet.
The second project targeted was Duelbits, a cryptocurrency gambling and betting platform. The attack resulted in losses of around $7 million, with some estimates initially suggesting $4.3 million before being revised to $5.9 million. A co-founder of Duelbits reported that the loss was likely due to a compromised private key.
The third project affected was Meter.io, an EVM blockchain network. An attacker exploited a flaw in block verification to mint unbacked tokens worth approximately $2.3 million and then sold them on PancakeSwap. The sale of these tokens led to sharp declines in related token prices, with MTR losing nearly 80% of its value.
The attacks highlight the ongoing vulnerabilities in cryptocurrency infrastructure and emphasize the need for robust security measures to protect against such incidents.
