Cryptocurrency Sector Suffers $97 Million in July Security Incidents

In July, cryptocurrency security incidents resulted in approximately $97 million in losses, an 18.7% increase from June's total of $81.73 million.

Off-chain attacks became a major force in July, with cross-chain bridges continuing to be breached. The most notable incident was the attack on Ostium, which lost about $23.75 million due to an intrusion into its off-chain price signature infrastructure.

A total of 14 protocol-related security incidents occurred in July, down from 67 in June but resulting in significantly higher losses per incident.
