CryptoPawn Defines Requirements for AI Agents in Crypto-Backed Transactions
CryptoPawn, a Delaware-licensed pawnbroker focused on digital assets, has published a new industry framework detailing requirements for automated AI agents to participate in regulated crypto-backed transactions.
The framework outlines four key issues: identity, permission, collateral, and liability that must be resolved before AI agents can engage in these transactions.
An autonomous software agent is not automatically the legal customer in a financial transaction. The verified person or legal entity remains the contractual party, and the agent operates only within the authority granted to it.
The framework emphasizes the importance of clear limits around what an AI agent can pledge, how much it can borrow, the agreement duration, and when human approval is required.
