Curve Accuses PancakeSwap of Code Theft Amid StableSwap Dispute

Crypto exchange Curve Finance has accused PancakeSwap of using its StableSwap code without permission. The dispute comes days after PancakeSwap launched a new StableSwap feature on March 1, designed to reduce slippage on stablecoin pairs.

The alleged violation is not only illegal but also 'historically shown to be unwise' for projects that take this approach, according to Curve's public statement. Curve offered to engage PancakeSwap on licensing terms and potential collaboration, with the protocol responding briefly to say they are reaching out to Curve's team directly.

The licensing ambiguity matters because Curve's code exists in multiple versions with different terms. The specific version of Curve's code allegedly used by PancakeSwap has not been publicly identified, which is central to the legal question.
