Cyber Attackers Steal $5.7 Million Worth of Cryptocurrency
A recent string of cyber attacks has highlighted the importance of robust cybersecurity measures in protecting digital assets and personal data. The attacks, which targeted cryptocurrency owners and hotel Wi-Fi networks, resulted in the theft of millions of dollars worth of cryptocurrency.
The first attack involved a weak seed phrase generator used by several crypto wallets, which allowed hackers to brute-force keys and steal funds from 953 accounts totaling $5.7 million. The affected networks included Bitcoin, Ethereum, Tron, Rootstock, and Polygon.
A separate malware attack targeted macOS users, stealing system passwords, Apple Keychain data, cookies, and information from browser storages. The infection chain started with an email containing a phishing link, which led to the installation of the info stealer.
