Cypherpunk Technologies Posts $39M Net Income on Zcash Gains
Cypherpunk Technologies, a NASDAQ-listed company, has reported a significant turnaround in its financials. In Q2 2026, it posted a $39.4 million net income, a stark contrast to the $16.6 million loss it incurred during the same period last year.
The key driver behind this improvement was a $46 million unrealized gain on its Zcash holdings. This is not the first time Cypherpunk has benefited from Zcash gains; in Q1 2026, it posted a net loss of $77.2 million due to an unrealized loss as Zcash's price plummeted.
Cypherpunk's pivot towards a ZEC-centric treasury strategy was backed by significant funding from Winklevoss Capital. The company now holds between 290,000 and 295,000 ZEC tokens, representing around 1.7% to 1.76% of Zcash's total circulating supply.
The acquisition cost of these tokens ranges from $334 to $336 per token, and at current valuations, the position is worth approximately $145 million.
