CZ Warns Millionaires May Struggle to Afford a Single BTC Amid Scarcity Concerns
Binance founder Changpeng Zhao (CZ) has sparked discussions in the crypto market with his latest comments on Bitcoin's scarcity.
In an X post, CZ highlighted that over 20.07 million BTC had been mined by August 2026, leaving around 4.4% of the maximum 21 million supply yet to be created.
CZ also estimated that 10% to 20% of existing Bitcoin may be lost, stuck, or permanently inaccessible due to private keys being lost.
This estimate is significant because the lost coins cannot be replaced in the market. The implication becomes striking when comparing Bitcoin ownership with millionaire numbers.
Trader Quinten Francois noted that there are around 23.6 million millionaires in the United States, suggesting that there may not be enough BTCs for every millionaire to hold one. CZ commented that millionaires could eventually find themselves unable to purchase a complete Bitcoin.
