Czechia's Partners Banka Pioneers Domestic Bitcoin Trading
Czechia's Partners Banka has made history by becoming the first domestic commercial bank in the Czech Republic to offer clients direct Bitcoin trading within its mobile app. The new feature allows clients to open a crypto account in minutes and start buying or selling Bitcoin with as little as $23 (500 Czech korunas). This marks a significant milestone in the country's financial landscape, making it easier for everyday retail investors to access cryptocurrency services.
According to Petr Borkovec, CEO of Partners Banka and co-founder of the Partners financial group, 'Bitcoin interests a large part of the Czech public today, but for many people the path to buying it remains needlessly complicated.' The bank's partnership with Anycoin, which provides infrastructure licensed under the European Union's Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulation, allows clients to trade Bitcoin directly within the app with no maintenance or custody fees.
The integration removes conventional barriers to entry for retail investors, as users no longer need to download third-party applications or manage complex seed phrases and recovery passwords. Transactions are selected in-app and debited directly from the user's primary bank account. While Partners Banka is not currently planning to add other cryptocurrencies to the platform, Borkovec urged caution among retail users, emphasizing that Bitcoin should remain a small component of a broader investment strategy.
