Daines Introduces Bill Offering Tax Relief for Digital Asset Users
U.S. Senator Steve Daines has introduced the ADAPT Act, which aims to provide tax relief for individuals and businesses using digital assets.
The bill proposes to exempt certain transactions from taxation, including purchases of goods and services using stablecoins that are not used for investment purposes.
It would also provide relief for small blockchain fees, capping the amount at $10 or less.
However, investors who use this provision would face stricter rules on wash sales, which deny a loss deduction when an investor buys substantially identical assets within 30 days before or after a sale.
The bill has received bipartisan support from three Republican cosponsors: Senators Tim Scott, Cynthia Lummis, and Bernie Moreno.
