Dallas Duo Arrested in Cryptocurrency-Targeted Robbery Attempt
Two men from Dallas, Texas have been arrested in connection with an alleged cryptocurrency-targeted robbery attempt in San Jose. The investigation began on September 5 after a resident reported seeing two suspicious individuals posing as delivery workers on his home surveillance camera.
The suspects, ages 19 and 20, were seen wearing a ski mask by one of the individuals, who brandished a firearm. They fled before officers arrived, but police were able to identify the suspect vehicle using automated license plate reader technology from the city's Flock camera network.
A comprehensive investigation led authorities to Dallas, where San Jose detectives partnered with local law enforcement and federal agencies to locate and arrest the suspects on September 24.
The suspects are believed to have targeted victims with significant cryptocurrency holdings and may be connected to crimes in several Bay Area jurisdictions. They face charges including attempted robbery, vehicle theft, and firearms offenses.
