Dango Exits Stage, Citing Unrealistic Viability as Perpetual Contract Trading Platform Shuts Down
Dango, a decentralized exchange focused on perpetual contract trading, is shutting down operations due to a lack of commercial viability. Trading will cease on July 29 at 12 pm UTC, with its underlying Layer-1 blockchain going dark entirely on August 13.
The project raised $3.6 million in seed funding in November 2024 and launched its mainnet in early April 2026. Despite processing $239 million in trading volume over the past 30 days and holding approximately $1.77 million in total value locked, the team concluded there was no viable path to lasting commercial success.
The shutdown announcement emphasized that users' funds will remain secure throughout the wind-down process. Open positions will be closed at oracle prices, and funds will be returned in USDC. The timeline is straightforward: trading stops July 29, the L1 chain itself shuts down August 13, and somewhere in between, users retrieve their assets.
