Dango Shuts Down Amid Financial Woes, Adding to Crypto Project Exits
Dango, a decentralized trading platform and Layer 1 blockchain, has officially shut down operations. Launched in April with ambitious plans for long-term commercial success, the project has concluded that it can no longer sustain itself due to financial difficulties.
The team cited a combination of factors, including shrinking financial runway, legal and compliance delays, talent departures, and a challenging crypto market environment. Despite ongoing development activity, feature rollouts slowed, momentum faded, and internal pressure continued to build.
Users face two critical deadlines: July 29, 2026, when trading will permanently stop and open positions will be settled using oracle prices; and August 13, 2026, when the Layer 1 blockchain will permanently shut down. Any assets not withdrawn by then will automatically return to users' original Ethereum deposit addresses.
The Dango shutdown adds another name to the growing list of crypto projects that have announced operational cessation or bankruptcy this year, highlighting the harsh reality facing smaller projects in the current market environment.
