Danville PD Issues Warning About Bitcoin Scam Targets Residents

The Danville Police Department in Kentucky is warning citizens about a Bitcoin scam targeting residents. The police department reported that there have been several incidents of people receiving phone calls from scammers claiming to be from a company called 'Bitcoin'.

The callers allegedly inform the victims that their Bitcoin account has been compromised and they need to provide sensitive information, such as passwords or social security numbers, in order to secure their account.

Police warn that these scams are designed to trick people into giving away valuable personal data, which can be used for identity theft or other malicious purposes. The department advises residents not to engage with the scammers and instead report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
