Danville Police in Texas have issued a warning to the public about a Bitcoin scam circulating in their area.

The police department took to social media to inform residents that scammers are contacting people via phone, claiming to be from a company called 'Federal Reserve' and demanding payment in Bitcoin for an outstanding debt or fine.

The scammers allegedly claim that the victim's information has been compromised and that they must pay immediately to avoid legal action.
