Dartmouth Endowment Sees $2.2M Crypto ETF Decline Amid Market Downturn
Dartmouth College's endowment saw its cryptocurrency exchange-traded fund (ETF) holdings decline by over $2 million in the second quarter of 2025, according to a recent filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
The decrease was due to falling prices of underlying digital assets, not a change in the number of shares held.
Dartmouth's positions included the Bitwise Solana Staking ETF, the Grayscale Ethereum Staking ETF, and BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin ETF. The endowment reported $12.4 million in crypto ETFs as of June 30, down from $14.6 million on March 31.
The decline highlights the volatility inherent in digital asset investments, even for long-term institutional investors like university endowments.
