Dashjr Exits OCEAN Amid BIP-110 Fallout
Luke Dashjr has left his roles as chairman, chief technology officer, and director of OCEAN Mining after a tumultuous period surrounding BIP-110.
The proposal aimed to restrict certain non-financial data in Bitcoin transactions for a year, but it failed to gain significant miner support, peaking at 2.6% of network hashrate far below the proposed 55% threshold.
OCEAN supported BIP-110 by default, but its Decentralized Alternative Templates for Universal Mining protocol allowed individual miners to make transaction-selection decisions independently from the pool's policy.
Mummolin Inc., OCEAN's parent company, repurchased Dashjr's equity in a mutually agreed separation, allowing him to move on to CONVOY, a separate venture focused on decentralizing Bitcoin mining.
