Dashjr Exits OCEAN Mining as Repurchased Shares Remain Under Wraps
Bitcoin developer Luke Dashjr has left OCEAN Mining after the company completed its buyout of his shares. This move brings an end to his three leadership roles at the mining pool, which he co-founded and had been a part of for 16 years. According to an August 29 statement, Dashjr resigned as chairman, chief technology officer, and director, with OCEAN repurchasing all of his equity.
The company did not disclose the price paid for Dashjr's shares or its new ownership structure. It also announced that it will continue operating its transparent, non-custodial pool while Dashjr pursues a new mining venture called CONVOY.
OCEAN still represents a significant share of the network's hashrate, with Mempool.space attributing 2.45% of the previous 163 blocks to the pool, or approximately 24.57 exahashes per second. This is consistent across both short and longer windows, indicating that miner departures have not been dramatic.
