The DATA Foundation, formerly known as Story Protocol, has extended the lockup period for its team and lead investor tokens. This move was announced in June, but the foundation did not provide a new unlock date or disclose how many wallets are affected.

The original schedule had indicated that these tokens would begin unlocking on August 13, but it seems this date will be pushed back by at least another 18 months. The foundation's June update stated that the team and lead investors extended their token lockups by this period, but did not specify when this extension begins or what the new unlock date is.

The DATA Foundation reported introducing a neutral automated smart-contract mechanism to enforce the revised lockup framework in February. However, it remains unclear whether this same mechanism was used for the June extension. The foundation's announcement also mentioned that affected holders remain legally bound by their agreements even if technical authorization is incomplete.
