DBS and Citi Complete Weekend Dollar Payment on Swift Ledger

Share

DBS and Citi have successfully completed a US dollar payment between Singapore and New York over the weekend, using tokenized deposits on Swift's blockchain-based Digital Ledger.

The transfer took just minutes to complete, extending the ledger's live use beyond standard banking hours. This is a significant development for corporate treasurers, who can now move liquidity across time zones without losing days to weekend gaps.

Swift describes its shared ledger as a secure orchestration layer for bank-issued tokenized deposits held on participating banks' own ledgers. The blockchain component coordinates that movement, while final settlement remains in existing banking systems.
