D'CENT Wallet Drain Continues: Another Victim Loses Over $100,000
An ongoing wallet drain campaign targeting D'CENT app users has resulted in another loss of over $100,000. The most recent victim had funds stolen from both the XRP Ledger (XRPL) and the Stellar blockchain.
The attack on the XRPL occurred at 04:36 UTC on September 23 when the victim's account sent 72,521 XRP to a hacker-controlled wallet. This was followed by another transfer of 2,488 XRP, leaving the victim's wallet empty.
On the Stellar blockchain, the attackers created a new account and sent 17,244 XLM worth over $3,600 from the victim's address. The stolen funds were then moved to Changelly.
The broader drain campaign began on September 15 with the theft of 1,682 XRPL wallets, followed by further attacks that emptied an additional 6,678 wallets and took a total of 11.7 million XRP. The attackers also deleted 5,001 accounts and recovered their reserves to swap for Ethereum.
