Deadly Mexico Home Invasion Tied to Suspected Crypto Heist

A Mexican family of four was tragically killed in their home on September 1st, allegedly over a reported $1.5 million Bitcoin stash.

Jonathan Meléndez, his pregnant wife Ana Paola, and their three-year-old daughter were all found dead, along with the household dog.

Their six-year-old son was discovered unharmed, but prosecutors claim that the motive for the brutal killings was an attempt to steal Bitcoin held through a cold-storage device.

Reports of the $1.5 million Bitcoin stash remain unconfirmed, with testimony suggesting that Meléndez's known crypto investment was closer to 3 million Mexican pesos.
