Debt Financing Surges as Crypto Fundraising Hits $12.86 Billion in Q2
Crypto companies raised $12.86 billion in Q2 2026, across 271 completed transactions. This total is down from $14.25 billion in the same quarter last year, but up from $8.87 billion in Q1 2026.
The market is now driven by three channels: venture capital, debt financing, and acquisitions. Venture capital led with $4.99 billion across 218 rounds, while debt financing delivered almost as much money through just 9 transactions.
A single company, IREN, accounts for the majority of the quarter's debt financing, raising $3.65 billion on June 1st. This is not a typical month for crypto fundraising, which usually takes place earlier in the quarter.
Debt financing saw the sharpest movement, doubling from $2.18 billion last year and rising to $4.36 billion this quarter. Public equity, however, moved in the opposite direction, falling from $2.45 billion a year ago to just $76.4 million.
