Decentralized Finance Surges as Onchain Protocol Revenue Hits New Heights
Onchain protocol revenue has reached new heights, with four major platforms simultaneously breaking their own weekly records. According to DefiLlama data, Hyperliquid pulled in $3.07 million in protocol revenue over a single 24-hour period and approximately $13.47 million over the trailing 7-day period.
This surge points to a broader shift in decentralized finance, where fee generation is becoming the metric that matters most. Among the top performers was Hyperliquid, which generated its revenue almost entirely from perpetual futures trading fees, with about 99% of eligible fees funneled into $HYPE buybacks and burns.
Pump, StonkFun, and Pons also each posted personal weekly revenue records during the same period. While Pump's revenue comes from activity within the Solana ecosystem as a memecoin launchpad, Pons showed steady performance with approximately $17.8 million in revenue over its trailing 30-day window.
Hyperliquid's revenue figure annualizes to a run rate north of $700 million, solidifying its position among the highest-earning protocols in DeFi outside of stablecoin issuers. This development underscores why revenue, rather than total value locked, has become the metric worth watching across this corner of the market.
