Defense Secretary Hegseth Discloses Bitcoin Holdings and Over $1 Million in Bank Account
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth's financial disclosure reveals his holdings in Bitcoin and more than $1 million in one bank account. The filing, which covers 2025, also shows Hegseth's retirement accounts were worth up to $4.35 million.
Hegseth reported two separate entries for his Bitcoin holdings, both linked to the same Coinbase wallet. One entry is valued at $15,001 to $50,000, while the other is listed at $1,001 to $15,000, totaling approximately $16,000 to $65,000 combined.
The filing also lists Hegseth's individual stock sales, including Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman, which were each reported in the $1,001-to-$15,000 range. His family made 16 ETF purchases during 2025, totaling approximately $1.41 million to $3.05 million.
Hegseth signed the report in May 2026, and an agency ethics official certified it in August, followed by certification from the Office of Government Ethics on September 18.
