Term Labs, a decentralized finance (DeFi) platform, has suffered an $8.5 million loss in a governance attack. The incident occurred due to a critical vulnerability in the protocol's governance system, which allowed an attacker to gain control over the Term Meta Vaults.

The hacker withdrew 2843 ETH ($6.87 million) and 1.68 million USDC, quickly converting the stablecoins into 1.68 million DAI. The attack was funded with 2 ETH via Tornado Cash, which were transferred to an address linked to the attacker's wallet (0xD5183d8BfC65a50863C62aF2538198A8288FFc13).

The Term Labs team has confirmed the attack and emphasized that the issue arose in the governance system of the vaults. To prevent further losses, they have halted the operation of Term Meta Vaults and revoked all DAO governance roles.
