DeFi Protocols Unveil Innovative Solutions for On-Chain Financial Development
Four major DeFi protocols have recently announced significant upgrades and innovations in on-chain financial development. Zama's Confidential RFQ uses Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE) to provide a solution for large on-chain transactions similar to traditional financial dark pools.
This protocol allows institutions and professional market makers to conduct large on-chain transactions through a 'Sealed-bid Auction' method, keeping transaction details in ciphertext. However, FHE still faces challenges, including performance bottlenecks and regulatory scrutiny.
Uniswap has introduced Permissioned Pools, which allow for the trading of tokenized Real World Assets (RWA) such as U.S. Treasuries and stocks on AMMs while balancing DeFi's composability with TradFi's compliance and security. However, this innovation also introduces new challenges, including liquidity fragmentation and centralization risks.
Morpho has launched the fixed-rate lending product Morpho Midnight on the Base chain, which complements its floating-rate pool Morpho Blue. This product provides institutional investors and corporate treasury management with predictable funding costs and yield expectations through a matching system based on 'intent' and discounted bonds.
