Deribit Expands Spot Trading Capabilities with VARA Broker-Dealer License
Deribit has secured a Broker-Dealer license in Dubai from the Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA). This approval allows Deribit to expand its spot trading capabilities, connecting eligible orders directly to Coinbase Exchange for execution. The integration provides Deribit users with access to deeper spot liquidity and a broader range of digital assets through Coinbase Exchange.
The Broker-Dealer license expands on Deribit's existing VARA Exchange Services license, which it has held since early 2025. This new license allows eligible spot buy, sell, and trade orders to be routed to Coinbase Exchange. Assets acquired through the upgraded spot trading service may be used as collateral for derivatives trading on Deribit, subject to applicable regulatory requirements.
The move represents another development following Coinbase's acquisition of Deribit. The integration combines Deribit's established derivatives platform with Coinbase's broader spot market infrastructure, strengthening Deribit's position among institutional clients. The company maintains its global headquarters and holds regulatory permissions covering exchange and derivatives activities in Dubai.
