SEC Delays Tokenization Exemption Amid Clarity Act Negotiations

Share

The SEC has delayed its tokenization 'innovation exemption' initiative due to ongoing stakeholder negotiations over provisions of the Clarity Act. According to crypto reporter Eleanor Terrett, discussions are centered around Section 10505 of the legislation. The SEC is hesitant to proceed with its exemption until these negotiations are settled, as it could impact compromises currently under consideration.

An unforeseen scheduling issue led the SEC to postpone a public meeting on proposed rules for 'Regulation Crypto Assets'. Although the meeting was cancelled, an SEC spokesperson stated that the agency intends to continue working towards clearer regulation for the crypto sector.
