Deribit Secures VARA Licence, Tapping Coinbase Liquidity
Deribit has secured a Broker-Dealer Licence from Dubai's Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA), allowing it to route spot orders directly to Coinbase Exchange for execution. This move gives Deribit clients deeper market access and hundreds of additional assets.
The licence change enables Deribit to tap into Coinbase's centralised orderbook, providing users with tighter spreads and increased liquidity. Assets bought through the upgraded spot service can also be used as collateral for derivatives trading on Deribit, subject to regulatory approval.
Coinbase stock (COIN) remains in focus as Deribit gains access to deeper liquidity and hundreds of new assets. The company's acquisition of Deribit is now paying off, with Coinbase using its exchange infrastructure to support the upgraded spot service.
