Derivatives Market Spotlight: $15B Options Expiry Looms Large for Bitcoin Traders
Traders seeking answers about Bitcoin's sustainability are looking at the derivatives market for clues. The quarterly expiration of roughly $15 billion in options contracts is set to take place on Friday, September 25. On Deribit, a significant portion of all open interest - or total contracts - tied to this expiry is centered around strike prices of $85,000, $90,000, and $100,000.
The put-to-call ratio, which indicates the balance between options to sell versus buy, stands at 0.70. This suggests a larger number of bets on higher Bitcoin prices.
