Deutsche Bank Enters Crypto Custody Market with Institutional Focus
Deutsche Bank has launched its crypto custody service for institutional and corporate clients. The initial offering will cover Bitcoin, Ethereum, and selected stablecoins, including USDC, EURC, and EURAU.
The German bank's digital asset custody will support the transfer of these assets through infrastructure managed by Deutsche Bank. Clients will not need to build their own custody systems, as Deutsche Bank will manage customers' wallets and private keys.
According to Gerald Podobnik, Co-Head of Commercial Banking at Deutsche Bank, digital assets are not a replacement for traditional financial systems but rather a complement to existing market infrastructure.
The service is expected to first become available to customers in Germany, pending regulatory approval. The bank's digital asset offering could grow over time based on client demand, regulatory requirements, risk management, and its internal product approval process.
