Deutsche Bank Enters Cryptocurrency Custody Market with Select Asset Support
Deutsche Bank, Germany's largest bank, is preparing to launch a cryptocurrency custody service for its corporate and business clients later this year. The bank announced in an official statement that it will initially support Bitcoin and Ethereum, as well as select stablecoins, including USDC, EURC, and EURAU. The service will allow Deutsche Bank to manage wallets and private keys on behalf of clients, eliminating the need for institutional clients to establish their own cryptocurrency custody infrastructure.
The new system will also enable clients to transfer their stored digital assets to third parties. The bank emphasized that the exact launch date has not yet been determined and depends on completing the necessary regulatory processes.
The service's initial target audience is Deutsche Bank's corporate and business clients, including corporations, asset managers, hedge funds, custodians, brokerage firms, and government agencies. Customer acceptance will be carried out in accordance with the bank's criteria, due diligence requirements, and risk assessments.
