Deutsche Bank Joins Crypto Custody Ranks with Bitcoin Service for Institutional Clients
Deutsche Bank has announced plans to launch a bitcoin custody service for its European corporate and institutional clients. The service, which is expected to debut this year, will allow clients to store their bitcoin holdings securely and in compliance with regulatory requirements.
The move marks the latest development in the growing trend of traditional financial institutions offering crypto custody services. In recent months, top banks such as BNY Mellon, State Street, Standard Chartered, U.S. Bank, and Citigroup have all launched or committed to direct crypto custody.
According to Deutsche Bank's Co-Head Corporate Bank, Gerald Podobnik, digital assets are not a replacement for the traditional financial system but rather an important complement to it. The bank aims to provide clients with a secure and regulated gateway to the evolving market, while also supporting a range of digital assets including stablecoins and tokenized financial instruments.
