Deutsche Bank Prepares Crypto Custody Service for Institutional Clients
Deutsche Bank is preparing to launch a crypto custody service for its corporate and institutional clients. The bank plans to onboard its first clients this year, subject to regulatory approval. This move marks an important step in the adoption of digital assets by traditional financial institutions.
The service will allow Deutsche Bank's clients to hold Bitcoin, Ether, and select stablecoins, such as USDC, EURC, and EURAU, while the bank manages their private keys and wallets. The bank has implemented robust security measures, including hardware protection, secure key generation, and approval processes involving multiple people.
Deutsche Bank's co-head of Corporate Bank, Gerald Podobnik, described digital assets as a complement to traditional finance, saying they can operate alongside existing market infrastructure under regulated institutions' security and oversight.
